Dr. Sabiston’s research interests are focused primarily on the link between indicators of emotional wellbeing and physical activity motivation and behaviour. Her studies target individuals who are most at-risk for low levels of physical activity, including women, individuals with chronic disease, and youth.

Recent and on-going research projects include:

1:Identifying and exploring body-related self-conscious emotions and associations to health and wellbeing;

2:Examining the longitudinal associations between lifestyle physical activity, and biological and emotional indicators of wellbeing in breast cancer survivors; and

3:Testing the relationship between physical activity and mental health outcomes such as depressive symptoms, anxiety, distress, and psychological growth.

Her research is currently funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Fonds de la Recherche en Santé Québec, and Fonds de Recherche sur la société et al culture.
